The African Elephants are being killed and almost wiped out to the rim of extinction. The ivory tusks of an elephant are valuable. When the poacher kills the elephant, they remove the tusks forcefully leaving the animal dying. Two of the biggest ivory trading markets, (Asia and the USA) have agreed to help stop the poaching. Ivory is a form of wealth to some people, and that is why it is valuable. Luckily, there are recent efforts to help these elephants. Elephants are being rescued and transported to safer areas. Officials are burning ivory found from elephants to spread the message that poaching is wrong.
